HIS KILLING PRINCESS by @AprilZyon #darkromance #mafia @EvernightPub

Antonio Bruno always knew that secrets and death were a part of the life he chose, so he never intended to fall in love with Emily Reynolds, a woman who embodies innocence. He attempts to shield her from his life as second in command of the Italian Mob, but sometimes the best-laid plans can come apart at the seams.

Emily is no stranger to secrets herself. One thing she’s always been truthful about is how much she loves Tony. When a home invasion steals her from his life, one twisted lie turns into another, pitting these two lovers against one another.

Despite the odds, there’s a chance Tony and Emily can fight to save their relationship. That's if they aren’t killed in the process of finding the traitor in the midst of the Italian Mafia. Can these star-crossed lovers weed through all of the deception? And how far are they willing to go to be together?

Excerpt:

Emily and Antonio met by pure chance. She had been thinking of their meeting just as much as she had been thinking of their past, mostly because she was thinking of a future with him. She was thinking of a future with him because of another huge secret she was holding from him.
She sighed and closed her eyes. God, she had so much to tell him. She just prayed the man would understand. Then again, he was a killer as well, with a code as strong as her own. She lay in their bed and waited for him. As soon as he entered the room, all thoughts of telling him anything flew out the door and instead she knew he needed to simply forget. They had been together for five months, in that time they hadn’t used protection from the first moment they got together which brought her to the thoughts she was having about their futures now.
That was the thing about them sharing professions. She could read his body language better than he likely knew she could. Emily rose to her feet and walked to Tony. As she moved toward him, she stripped out of her negligée and stood before him in all her naked glory. She knew what he saw. Emily wasn’t shy about her body any longer. She now embraced her womanly attributes, and that was all thanks to Antonio.
She had scars, ones that couldn’t be hidden but had been explained away easily enough with the smallest of lies, ones she had hated to tell him and couldn’t wait to tell him the truth on. As he had told her before, her breasts were the size of ripe grapefruits, her skin a pale milk color, and her hair as red as fire. Or so he liked to tell her.
She moved to Tony silently and began to strip him of his clothes, loving the way her pale skin looked against his very dark skin. Sliding Tony’s shirt from his body, she scraped her nails over his beautifully toned six pack abs and looked up into his troubled eyes. “Hard day?” she asked while working on his pants.
She felt emboldened by this man. It was hard to imagine that before him she had been a virgin. She had killed a hundred horrible men but never had taken a lover. Tony had been intense, wonderful, and she had known from the moment she met him that he was the one for her.
“You have no idea, sweetheart.” Tony took her hand in his and shook his head. “You know that is not how I play.” He growled lightly at her and then leaned down, taking one of her nipples into his mouth and suckling hard. “I do love being greeted at the door by you naked, however. From here out I think you should greet me like this when I come home, but only when I text you and tell you I’m coming home alone. I would hate to kill a friend who saw my woman naked.”
She shivered. Had any other man demanded anything of her like that she would kill them and leave their bodies for the cops to find. Period. She wasn’t one to be commanded, but with Tony, it turned her on. She seemed to need it. “Yes, Sir.” She bowed her head in supplication. She knew she would do anything he asked her to do. She would because she knew he would always ensure she had pleasure, no matter what. Tony would do anything for Emily just as she would for him.
“Are you hungry?”
“Only for you, Emmy girl, only for you,” Tony said only a second before he picked her up and carried her to their bedroom.
Emily held back her laughter when he tossed her on the bed, because she saw the look of sheer bleak need on his face. She reached back, grabbed the headboard, and watched him strip. He all but radiated the need to control, the need to dominate in a way that eclipsed anything they had ever shared before, and it almost scared her, almost.

New Release Tour #Giveaway: Family Forever by @VClarizio #Contemporary #Romance @EvernightPub

Welcome to the book tour for Valerie Clarizio’s newest release, Family Forever. As you read about this fantastic new release, be sure to enter for any of the three prizes listed below.

The death of Dylan’s parents leave his five younger brothers and the family dairy farm in his care.
Neighbor Marissa, raised by an alcoholic father, seeks a way out. Desperate for help, Dylan offers her a live-in nanny/housekeeper position. She jumps at the opportunity.  The chaotic household, full of love, feeds her maternal instincts. She falls for Dylan and the boys.
When Dylan finds himself desiring Marissa, he pulls back. His heart has been broken in the past by women resistant to a large, ready-made family. But if she walks away, she’d not only break his heart but those of his brothers, too.
Will Dylan ever believe in Marissa’s devotion to his family, risk his heart, and those of his brothers, for the woman he loves?

Excerpt PG13
Butterflies fluttered in Marissa’s stomach the second Dylan’s dark gaze zoned in on her. She’d have to remember to send Mrs. Moore a thank you card for the gift she’d just given her. Dylan would never have asked her to dance on his own. He’d have to stop treating her like a little sister, or a wounded puppy first. She wondered if that day would ever come. Would the handsome man holding her now ever be able to see her as she wanted him to, as a woman? She didn’t seem to have a problem getting Jake or Cole to look at her that way, but Dylan was another story.

She leaned into him, not as hard as she would have liked but hard enough to let him know how she felt. His muscles stiffened against her. Excellent, she got his attention.

Though she wasn’t sure if it was his intention, his hand splayed across the small of her back and he pulled her closer to his firm body. Her breath hitched, and his masculine scent intoxicated her. Sure, she’d smelled him before, but never at this close proximity. She inhaled slowly and deeply, taking in his cologne, sending her on a natural high. The array of sensations rising in her were more than she bargained for. Her heart raced, and her blissful mind soared to a divine place much like she imagined heaven would be. Her body felt light as Dylan swayed her to the music. Were her feet even touching the ground? She wasn’t sure.

Dylan stepped back, removed his arm from around her waist, and released her hand, but his gaze held hers for a moment longer. It took her a second to realize the music had stopped completely. The band was taking a break. How could they? Didn’t they know every cell in her body needed them to keep playing slow country songs so she could enjoy the comfort of Dylan’s arms?

Book Tour: King Stud (O'Connor Family Novel Book 1) by @LivRancourt #Contemporary #Romance @EvernightPub

Danielle’s got three months to make her Grandmother’s rundown Craftsman house livable. Her game plan is to get in, get grubby, and get back home to L.A. She needs a carpenter, and her best friend’s younger brother is a good one. It’s hard to ignore the buffed body under Ryan’s paint-splattered sweatshirts, but her friend declares he’s off-limits so Danielle reluctantly agrees.

Ryan doesn’t have the cleanest record, anyway. His recently ex-ed girlfriend wants him back, and he has a reputation for brawling. He’s also had a crush on Danielle since he was a kid. Despite their nine-year age difference, he knows she’s worth pursuing.

Soon the paint under Danielle’s fingernails starts feeling more natural than the L.A. sunshine. She’ll have to navigate plumbing disasters, money problems, and one seriously cranky best friend to find something she hasn’t had before: a real home, and a man who loves her.

A pair of headlights streaked across the front window, interrupting her bid war. A minute later, heavy footsteps crossed the porch. Then someone knocked hard on the door.
She jerked out of the chair, her confusion exacerbated by the heavy pounding of her heart. No one should be here. The door rattled like someone was messing with the lock. She made a sound halfway between a bleat and a scream when the door opened.
Ryan came in. "Hey, you're here," he said, dimples flaring.
"What are you doing? You scared the shit out of me.” She braced herself on the table, pulling in a deep lungful of air.
He just stood grinning at her, hands in his pockets, curls gelled into something close to order. The laptop streamed soft music that all of a sudden sounded romantic, and she panicked, hoping he wouldn’t get the wrong idea.
“Glad you think this is funny,” she said.
“I thought you’d be out with Maeve.” He held up his hands, calming her, placating her. She really wanted those hands touching her.
Down girl.
“I just had to finish up a couple things.” She straightened up and rested her knuckles on her hips. Instead of his usual worn jeans and tee shirt, he was dressed in black pants and a light blue button-down shirt that looked like silk and made his eyes crazy bright. His tie was navy and he'd changed out his usual UW hoodie for a black leather jacket. "You look … um…"
"Company Christmas party." He spoke too quickly, like there was something going on under the surface.
"You should be out hanging with your crew." And not here torturing me.
"I need to take the clamps off those cabinets I glued up."
The expression on his face had nothing to do with carpentry. He took a couple steps toward the dining room, then veered over to where she stood, moving fast. She fell back, carried by his wave of energy, and in seconds he had her up against the wall, his hands bracketing her head, his hips pressed tight to hers.
"Ryan, no. What are you…"
He covered her mouth with his fingers. "Sh. Just let me be close to you for a minute."
She tipped her chin up and his fingers slid down her neck, stopping when his thumb hit the hollow at the base of her throat and his strong hand cradled her shoulder. He rocked forward, resting his mouth against her forehead.
She stood still, caught up in the heat of his breath on her skin and the soft woodsy smell of his aftershave.
"I know I'm not supposed to do this, Dani."
The scratch of lips against skin made her mouth water. "It's … okay. Just … we shouldn't."
His head turned and lowered. He meant to kiss her. If he succeeded, there was no way she'd stop. She wanted him so, so bad. He cupped her face with both hands, pinning her.
Crap.
His mouth closed over hers like the final piece of a puzzle dropping into place. She stilled, time stopped, the universe paused. She didn’t push him away.
Sometimes not choosing becomes its own choice.
Instead, she reached up and grabbed the collar of his silk shirt and hauled him closer. This was what she wanted. To hell with all the arguments against it.
He shoved a thigh between her legs, and his hands grew rougher, grabbing her hair to change the angle of her head. He tasted of mint and gum and beer. The heat rose between them, and oh my God she wanted it. Wanted him. He pulled back, flicked her lips with his tongue. The sound she made was nearly a sob. She drove her hands under his leather coat and pulled his shirt free. When her fingertips reached the warm, velvety skin of his lower back she almost sobbed again.
His kiss got harder, rugged, more demanding, and his hands dragged her ass closer still. Her body lit up, her core turning to liquid flame. He got under her sweatshirt, kneading her breasts. Her head rocked back against the wall and her laughter swirled out under the exquisite torture of his hands on her nipples. His lips and tongue mauled her ear and down her neck, and she keened a victory sound, tiny and high-pitched, her hips rocking slowly against the growing bulge in his groin.
She went to work on the buttons down the front of his shirt, ready to indulge in exploring his muscular chest, but he wrapped her hands in his and shifted his weight away from her.
When he spoke, his voice was rough, heavy. "I'm sorry." He turned slowly, moving like a man three times his age. "Jesus, I know you don’t want … I'm sorry, Dani."
She let the wall support most of her weight, breathing hard, all that warm liquidy goodness turning to ice. Her sweatshirt rode up around her ribs and her bra was off kilter. She tugged everything back into place, embarrassment verging on mortification washing over her. Why the hell did he stop? He'd acted on an impulse she felt just as surely as he did. Then he tipped forward a little, unsteady, almost losing his balance, and she put the pieces together. "How much did you have to drink tonight?"
He scrubbed his face with his hands. "A bit."
"A bit too much." She punched his shoulder. He reached out like he would gather her in for a hug, but she sidestepped him. "None of that, now. Let me get my stuff together then I'm going to drive you home."
"Nah, I'm fine."
"Um, right. Give me your keys."
After a brief staring match, he flipped his car keys in her direction. She'd seen pain in his eyes, hiding behind a whole boatload of frustration.

All emotions she could relate to.

When handed the Intel on a potential threat Martin Carver had no idea it would be what led him back to the town of his birth. At age nineteen he’d left Massey, Texas in his dust. But now when the life of someone he loves being threatened even the claustrophobic town won’t keep him from protecting her. And God help those after her.
Taking over her father’s practice had always been in the cards for Athena Rhodes. What she didn’t expect was to take over from him was the baggage that came along with the business. Law abiding woman that she is, Athena reaches out to get some help. Not in the cards was having the only man to ever hold her heart walk through the door, and tell her he was there to get her out from under the mob.
Everyone has always believed Martin to be the classic do-gooder. Building homes in third world countries, off saving the whales from drilling platforms, or any number of stories that have filtered through Massey through the years. To find out every single one of those stories were nothing more than fairy tales is one thing, to find out he’s actually an FBI agent will take some getting used to.
Athena’s running out of time, the mob having set a time limit on what they require her to do. If she fails to follow their demands to the letter it will mean her father’s life. Unsure what to do she will lean heavily on Martin, and hope he doesn’t let her fall.
The clock is against them to keep the woman Martin loves and her dad safe. He’ll do whatever it takes to end the threat rising against them. Because he’s got an all or nothing plan. What could go wrong?

Excerpt:
County Line
Massey, Texas
He didn’t know how long he’d been sitting there staring at the sign announcing, “Welcome to Massey, TX Population 5,609 and growing!” but the hood under his ass was cooling, and the sun had reached its highest point. Hell, it was starting the slow slide toward the horizon.
It had been a long, long time since he’d been home. The last time he’d been there he’d flown in for his pop’s funeral, stuck around for the meal, and then got the hell out of Dodge. Since then, he hadn’t been home once. He called, though, every single weekend right after his mother had finished breakfast on Sundays. They would chat for exactly one hour and fifteen minutes. No more, no less. The woman always had enough gossip to fill that time, so he rarely had to say much of anything.
Yet, here he was. Staring into the abyss of the quintessential small town. Ranches and farms spread out as far as the eye could see and beyond. Nestled in the middle was Massey. His hometown, and the place he’d burned rubber to get away from the moment he’d turned eighteen. Unlike his brothers, Martin had always hated coming back. To him, it had felt claustrophobic. Whether from his family’s expectations, or from his own uncertainty about the future, he didn’t know.
This time was no different. So, there he was, sitting on the hood of his ‘66 Mustang. While she maintained her shape, he’d given her a few tweaks over the years. A new paint job when he was eighteen, and a new hemi engine when he was twenty-two. There were a few other not exactly legal additional elements to Eris, named after the goddess of chaos, strife, and discord. His brothers had actually named his car, but he’d let it stick. Hell, he’d even gotten a little name plate that was attached to the dashboard right over the speedometer.
Martin shook his head, leaning back on his hands as he continued to stare in the direction of the town. He remembered back in high school a rumor Frank had told him about. His older brother had apparently also started it, but he denied it with a smirk every single time Martin confronted him.
According to the “rumor,” if a girl managed to talk Martin into taking her out a date, she prayed he’d be driving Eris. If he showed up in his pop’s old pickup truck, then she knew she would be getting walked to the front door, given a peck on the cheek, and he’d promptly leave to never call her for another date. But if he showed up in Eris, the girl would be getting a tour of the backseat, on her back, and things would be a rocking.
Not once had Martin ever taken a girl out in Eris. There’d been one he’d thought about, right before leaving town for good, but she’d been too young, and he definitely hadn’t needed that sort of thing to follow him or her around for the rest of their days.
Athena Rhodes. Named for the virgin goddess of reason, intelligent activity, arts, and literature. A more perfect name for the woman in question there never would be. She’d always had an ethereal quality about her, always thinking before leaping, and was the one woman who still had him jolting up out of bed in the middle of the night from the dreams she starred front and center in.
Not the teenage version of Athena Rhodes either. Nope, he knew exactly what she looked like as of four weeks ago. Hell, he even had her photo in the folder sitting on the passenger seat of his car. The rest of what was in the folder was why he was there, despite digging in his heels with the director of the FBI. Fucking bastard found it funny that Martin didn’t want to go home for a visit and deal with the trouble Athena found herself in. In the director’s mind, it was two birds, one stone. In Martin’s, it was a colossal fuck up in the making. Especially if Athena was anywhere near it.
Athena, bane of his existence. She’d been just starting to come into the woman she would one day be when he’d left Massey. Now she was more than he could ever have imagined. Five-foot-seven, long, rich red hair the color of a wine with hints of copper and strawberries. Green eyes that could lighten with amusement or darken like a coming storm. Athena had the stereotypical redhead temper, though he knew from his mother’s gossip she rarely showed it any more. So she’d gotten it under control. Should be interesting to test that theory.
Pale golden skin, just a hint of a tan, with a smattering of freckles over her nose and upper curve of her cheeks. A slightly rounded face with amazing bone structure, straight nose, slightly pointed chin, gave her face a heart-shaped look. A long ,elegant neck he’d imagined nibbling on in his quest to discover if there were freckles anywhere else on her body. His dreams said yes, but Martin didn’t think he’d really ever find out.
To top off his perfect woman’s image, Athena had some meat on her bones. She was built like a woman, sturdy, and not like one of those twigs from Hollywood that would blow over if you sneezed in their direction. She was, quite literally, his dream woman given form. Or maybe, he should say, she was the woman of his dreams, if only he had the nerve to tell her.
His other problem with the woman. She got him all twisted up inside, and turned him into a babbling fool. Or she had. Martin really hoped she still didn’t have that particular effect on him. ‘Cause that would just be the fucking icing on the cake for this whole damned trip.
The sound of an engine pulled his attention back, and he let out a sigh when the truck got close enough for him to recognize it. All the time in the world seemed to have passed, and the damn pickup truck that was used around the Carver Ranch was still exactly the same. Squinting slightly at the reflection off the windshield, he waited for his brother to swing it around and park it behind the Mustang.
The crunch of boots to gravel told him where his big brother was, yet still, he waited. Only when the other man slid onto the hood next to him did he give a nod. “Frank,” he said quietly.
“Martin.” That was it, nothing else.
Course they didn’t really need to say much of anything else. Despite rumors to the contrary, ones sort of started by him, he and Frank had worked together more than once. They even talked on a fairly regular basis. While Frank had worked for a different branch, and under different mandates for the US government, Martin had always been his brother’s contact inside the bureau.
“Eris is looking good,” Frank said after another ten minutes of silence.
“She held up well on the drive. Only got a bit cranky with me outside of Dallas. But a quart of oil and she was purring like an overgrown kitten again.”
Frank snorted out a laugh at that. “I can’t believe you still have her.”
“Dude, she’s family. Quit trash talking my car.”
Hands up, Frank cracked a grin. A real grin. As in teeth and everything. While Martin was staring in shock, he missed what his brother was saying. “What? Sorry.”
“I asked you how long you plan on sitting out here. According to Willard, you’ve been here since eight this morning. It’s now nearly two in the afternoon.”
Heaving a sigh, Martin shoved his hands through his pale blond hair. Out of all the Carvers, his was the lightest in color, but his eyes were the darkest. The oddities of the familial gene pool. “Working up the nerve to drive across the county line is all.”
“Uh-huh. You do know that Mama’s already heard you’re here. And the fact you are sitting here, and not at her kitchen table where she can smother you with all that built up motherly love, means you are in seriously deep shit, little brother.”
Martin winced at that. Yeah, his mama would hug him, weep all over him, and then likely bean him with her rolling pin. Theresa Carver was in no way a pushover. She might play the part occasionally to lure the unaware in close, but then she struck. She could make a grown man in a full rage cry like a little girl in under two minutes. Without even batting a lash. She was that good.
“So, what has you here?” Frank asked.
Normally, he wouldn’t discuss it, but Frank still held his beyond top secret clearance level, and likely would as long as he was still breathing. “Athena Rhodes, or rather her dirty, lowdown scoundrel of a father.”
Frank’s head whipped around to look his way. “Shit. You got handed that one?”
“Yup.”
“Well fuck me.”
Yup. Pretty much Martin’s exact thoughts on the matter.
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A small aside about the series, Massey Texas, from the author...

I’ve always been fascinated with Cowboys. I know, most people are but to me there is just something super sexy about a man who is willing to work his ass off for a living. Something that’s incredibly hot about a man who knows how to work the land with his own hands.
When I originally started Massey Texas with Rhys Hollister and Gwen Baker I never dreamed that one of the families central to the story would stand up and take center stage, but they did. The Carver Family stood out pretty much from the get go in this series and they had to have their stories told.
Massey Texas has been a wonderful thrill-ride fro me, each time the characters spoke they tended to throw me for a loop, so to speak, and I loved every single moment of it.
While I’m tentatively ending this series at this book, the 9th in the series, it doesn’t mean that I will never revisit it one day in the future. After all, there were a couple of babies born to the Carver family that might eventually need their stories told!
I truly hope that you have all enjoyed the Massey Texas series as much as I have, and I hope that you will continue to read the books that I put out as either April Zyon, or Honor James.

~~~ Peace and love my friends, and be good to each other!
April Zyon (Also known as Honor James)
