Manhattan Bound Series #2
By Juliette Braddock

Synopsis

Sweeping through the glitz and glamour of New York’s high society and the drama unfolding in the dressing rooms of Broadway, Wrapped, by Juliet Braddock, continues the journey of a young theatrical publicist’s foray into submission under the tutelage of a dashingly dark star of the stage. Wrapped—the much anticipated sequel to Braddock’s critically acclaimed erotic romance Weakened—is the second book in the Manhattan Bound series.
When Drew McKenzie presents Maxine Kirk with an ultimatum, challenging her to engage in his wanton brand of desire, she readily embraces her awakening hunger for a lifestyle that defies her perceptions of romance.
Entranced by Drew’s charming appeal and by his sensual assault to her senses, Maxine clamors to discover every nuance of this new relationship, ravenous to explore verboten fantasies that seem possible to fulfill only with Drew.
Along the way, he introduces her to his glamorous world of wealth and celebrity—where lavish galas and luxurious gifts are the norm—and entices her into his realm of control with his tender mode of domination.
All the while, however, they both grapple with painful emotions brought about by the extenuating circumstances of their separate pasts.
While Drew remains both confident and conscientious in his parlay of power over Maxine, his own tragic secret lurks in every shadow upon his path in life. Behind the façade of his stage persona and the origin of old Manhattan society, he struggles to hide the unforgiving reality he faced as a child.
Just as Maxine finds the strength to conquer her own torment with Drew’s patience and guidance leading her toward closure, terrifying truths begin to chip away at the surface of his composure.
As the nightmarish details of Drew’s unimaginable life emerge, he fears that this new world he’d begun to build with Maxine will crumble around him.
As Maxine finds herself embroiled in the battle to save Drew’s tortured soul from the atrocities that continue to stalk his every move, two lost souls struggling to find comfort and completion converge.
However, as Drew opens his heart to Maxine’s unwavering support, he questions his own bravery, wondering if she’ll take a bow and make her exit…or if she’ll stick around for the encore?

Red Tulip [Romantic Flashes Book 1] by Victoria Adams #Romance @_VictoriaAdams

Red Tulip is a contemporary romance with a hint of mystery. It’s the first book in a series called Romantic Flashes.

Darcy O'Calahann, a junior gardener from a small mid-western town, is trying to make her way in the big city.
Shamus McRae is a wealthy bachelor with a mysterious family past.
Are Darcy's eyes playing tricks on her? Is she losing her mind? Or is there really a Red Tulip tying her and Shamus together?

Excerpt
"When was the last time you were offered the gift of a red tulip?"
I turned to see who spoke while I wondered if he was addressing me. A man sat on a park bench, dressed in a dark suit, with a bowler hat, holding a cane and his head bowed. I shifted to continue along the path when his face lifted and I found myself gaping at two glowing green eyes.
"When was the last time you were offered the gift of a red tulip?"
I blinked, trying to look away from those mesmerising orbs. "Uh, never. I mean, no one has ever offered me a tulip."
"A red tulip."
"Okay, no one has ever offered me a red tulip." Uneasiness slithered through me. "Nice chatting with you."
Smiling, I scurried down the path leading away from the park bench and towards the gardener's shed. With Jacobs being sick today, I had to hurry to get the last of the flower beds cleaned and prepared for spring plantings. The past winter had been bitter. It seemed tree branches and mouse damage wreaked havoc on every one of the one hundred and sixteen different flowerbeds.
I slipped my key into the lock, opened the shed door, stepped inside and shut it behind me. Closing my eyes, I allowed myself a moment to indulge in the beauty of his eyes. Emerald green. As brilliant as the gems locked among the diamonds at Tiffany's. Not that I shop there. Couldn't possibly afford anything on a junior gardener's salary, but I do fantasize when wandering the aisles.
What would it be like to be with a man like that? For those few moments in his presence, I was unable to think. My breath caught in my lungs. My palms were slick with beads of sweat. I shook my head, opened my eyes, and tugged the ever-present hair tie off my wrist. "Get over yourself, Darcy. A man like that wants a super model who can slink around on eight-inch heels. Not someone who digs in the dirt all day."
I pulled my hair up into a ponytail and tucked it through the back hole in my baseball cap. After grabbing a rake and my favourite trowel, I loaded them and a pair of snippers and clippers onto the back of the gardener's cart, opened the big door, then drove out into the bright spring sunshine. Hopping out of the cart, I then turned and hoisted a bag of duck feed into the cart, closed and locked both shed doors.
The buds on the trees had begun to swell. A sure sign spring was at hand. I inhaled deep, slipped onto the driver's seat and turned in the direction of the duck pond. Joy lifted my heart as I drove towards my favourite part of the day: duck feeding.
This time of the year, the drakes courted the ducks. Not like in my life where the drake, namely Justin, was off courting Sabrina rather than me. Okay, so Sabrina had a sexy job as a TV weather girl. But I'm betting those eyelashes, fingernails and boobs aren't original packaging.
I stood by the side of the pond, tossing handfuls of feed into the shallow water. I laughed as the ducks and geese waddled over, scavenging for food.
Movement to my left caught my attention. A large, old car, a Rolls Royce I think, parked at the edge of the lot. The front door opened and a chauffeur exited. Cool. I wonder which celebrity is getting married today?
Although not in full flower, the early spring gardens did make a striking backdrop for wedding photos or model shoots. A tingle shot from my belly to my toes when he stepped out of the car. I turned my head, pretending to focus on the ducks, but I watched as he exited the car, strolled down the grass, sat on the nearest bench and smiled.
Oh, good heavens. Is he following me? Like a stalker? I gave myself a little shake. Don't be stupid. He probably just wants to watch me feed the ducks.
I struggled not to glance back and meet the emerald green gaze. I had a job to do. Brushing my hands against my work pants, I returned to the cart and proceeded with my day.
Twelve flowerbeds cleaned. I was tired, but proud. Tomorrow, Jacobs and I could begin the planting, and soon the gardens would be alive with blooms. As I reached the gardener's shed, I checked to see if, maybe, the Rolls was nearby. Or, possibly the man with the emerald gaze sat on a nearby bench. Both the parking lot and bench were deserted. No one but the ducks and me were in the park at this time of the day.
Sighing, I inserted the key into the lock for the big door and drove the cart inside. A splash of colour on the wooden bench made me gasp. I jumped out of the cart and picked up the note resting beside the flower.
"I offer the gift of a red tulip."

PG Excerpt:

Oy. No more weekday frat parties for me, no matter how noble the cause, especially when I have a test the next day. What was I thinking? And last minute cramming with a headache was not a good idea either. Forget it. My eyes drifted to the clock.
And now I was late. Damn it. With a sigh, I threw down my pencil and scrambled up, my head throbbing. I traded my Eeyore jammies for skinny jeans and a fitted white t-shirt. Shoes, where were my shoes? Gah. I ducked and rooted around in the deep, dark  spaces under my bed. Hmm, the green dress I borrowed from Sarah. Mental note: I need to return that. English book, various dust bunnies of uncertain lineage…there.
Sketchers on, I grabbed my backpack, turned up my iPod, and ran out the door. No time to primp.
Good thing the campus I lived on was small. There was a big central courtyard—the quad—filled with towering oak trees and wide-open spaces surrounded by squat school buildings and classrooms. If I hurried, I’d make it…
I raced into the quad out of breath and slowed, turning in a complete circle.
Huh.
No one around. Unease skittered through me on soft paws. The courtyard was always busy. I pulled my headphones out of my ears. Was there some sort of event I didn’t know about going on?

The unnatural silence pressed in on me for a second as the echoes of my steps faded.
Then screams—men’s and women’s—poured from Main Street. I broke into a run and shot between the buildings toward the sound.
Cars littered the intersection. Some guy rear-ended someone else, causing a chain reaction down the road. A horn blared nearby and a faint breeze blew the smell of gasoline, smoke, and copper my way. Clusters of people stood among the wreckage.

1.     Please tell us a little about yourself, the romance subgenre(s) in which you write, and your newest book.
Hi Anna, Thanks for hosting me.  My name is Colleen Myers and I write Science Fiction/Fantasy Romance.  I love the possibilities of what ifs, which is why I am drawn to Romance and Science Fiction.  I am a physician by trade and just started writing and absolutely love it.  My job as you can imagine is very reality based, so I love stories where I can guarantee a happily ever after.
My newest, debut book is Must Remember.

2.     What inspired you to write romance fiction?
It was actually after reading one of my favorite authors. I love her work and I absolutely hated the ending to one of her series and I thought, “I could write a better ending than that.”  And thus a career was born.

3.     You have the chance to date either Mr. Darcy (from Pride & Prejudice) or Sherlock Holmes. Which one would you choose and why?
Sherlock Holmes. He is so darn smart, I am sure he would be great…err as a partner.

4.     Some people love them, some hate them. What's your stance on alpha heroes?
Both as long as they are not misogynists. I love a take charge man, but there is a line

5.     Tell us about your favorite hero from one of your stories. What do you love about him?
Marin, the hero from Must Remember.  I feel a lot of stories tend to write these idealized characters with very few flaws.  In reality, that is not the case. I always make my heroes a bit more real without making them true jerks.  Marin is loving, but at the same times has issues which his own past that make him a bit controlling. He knows this and tries to tame his instincts and let Beta be independent. But it hard for him and it shows.

6.     What's your favorite part of writing?
The actually creating part.  I think of Hemingway’s saying. Write drunk, edit sober. The first draft is by far the funnest.

7.     What's the most exotic setting you've chosen for one of your stories and why did you choose it?
Solum! An alien planet! I actually have a friend drawing character sketches at the current time for the planet drawing and universe exploring that I will soon do.  The website is pending but will be www.solumworld.wordpress.com.

Short Author Bio:
Colleen plays many roles. Not only is she a veteran, a mother, and a practicing physician, but she is a writer of science fiction and contemporary romances. Colleen’s dreams include surviving her son’s teenage years, exploring every continent on this planet, except Antartica, cause that’s way too cold, and winning the Nobel peace prize. Dream BIG! Currently she is releasing her first novel, MUST REMEMBER with Champagne Books. You can also look for her at Three Rivers Romance Writers.

EXCERPT

“Nicole!” Kayla fumbled in her bag for her phone. She never should have turned off the light in the first place. The fear in her boss’s voice took her by surprise. Never in her wildest dreams—and she’d had plenty of those—did she think the indomitable Nicole Halstead would be afraid of anything, much less something as harmless as being stuck in a dark elevator. The woman was a Titan of commerce. A ballbuster. Kayla had fantasized about reducing her to a quivering mass, but not like this.
She was no stranger to a woman’s fear, but it was usually something planned and meted out in small increments—as she chose. Not to mention, the person experiencing the fear did so willingly. This was completely different. Stay calm. Only one panic-stricken woman allowed per stuck elevator. Kayla took a deep breath to steady her hands. In no time, her fingers closed around her phone then light flooded the small compartment.
Her boss stood in the far corner, hands fisted and trembling beneath her chin, her eyes wide and her face pale.
“Are you okay?” Under the right circumstances, Kayla loved to see a woman’s fear, knew how to handle it, but this?
“I’ve got to get out of here.”
The panicked woman cowering in the corner was not the same person Kayla had grown to respect over the last few months. “We’ll be out of here soon. Relax.”
She checked the battery life on her phone. They had a half hour, maybe a little more, she judged, depending on how much juice the flashlight app used. Turning it off wasn’t an option. Using her foot, she scooted her purse into a corner then bent and placed the phone on top so the light illuminated as much of the car as possible.
“Can’t…. Out…. Let me out.”
Her boss’s breathless demand did nothing to ease Kayla’s concern. She had to get Nicole’s mind off their confinement—get her thinking about something else, something more pleasant. “It’s okay. We’ll be out soon. While we wait, why don’t you tell me about your vacation? Where did you say you were going?”
Nicole’s gaze remained fixed on the door. Her lips vibrated as she struggled to get a grip on her fear. “M-Maui. Saphros.”
Kayla froze. Surely she’d misheard. Saphros on Maui was one of the most exclusive lesbian-only resorts in the world, known for their women-only policy, but it was rumored they catered to all levels of kink as well. It was high on her bucket list of places to go if she ever won the lottery.
“I’ve got to get out of here.” Nicole lunged forward. Wedging her fingers into the seam between the doors, a sound ushered from her lips sounding more like a wild animal caught in a trap than a human.
Kayla reached for her. Grabbing her arms from behind, she tried to pull her away from the door. Nicole wrenched out of her grasp and spun around. Eyes wide with terror, she clawed at her blouse, managing to tear the neckline before Kayla could stop her.
Shit. She had to do something before Nicole hurt herself. She’d seen panic attacks before. Subs, eager to please, would refuse to use their safeword and end up in over their heads. Confidence and a clear head were called for. Could this circumstance be much different?
You can do this. Put on your big girl panties and take control. Forget she’s your boss, and put an end to this shit.
Squaring her shoulders, Kayla let go of the tight leash holding her dominant side in check. “Stop it right now, bitch!”
Nicole’s hands stilled. Her eyes focused on Kayla. And there it was—that flash of recognition. The woman knew a thing or two about submitting. Wasn’t her boss just full of surprises today?

PG Excerpt

You are in shock, and you need to get some rest, he was saying, as she turned to look at him.

When she turned to face him to tell him she needed to stay at work, she looked into his eyes and forgot what she was going to say.  He was so close to her, and he was still slowly rubbing her back with his hand.  It felt so good, she didnt want it to stop. And he was so close.  Her heart sped up a bit as she wondered what it would feel like to kiss him.  His lips looked so soft and inviting.  Her sleep deprivation had lowered her basic defenses.

She was leaning into him or was he leaning into her?  She didnt really care who was doing what when his lips met hers.  She was lost in the feel of his kiss and in the magnetic force that seemed to be fogging her mind and overwhelming Christoph.

he couldnt resist her and he couldnt resist just tweaking their energy movements just a little bit.   Unlike human men, who did this manipulation unconsciously and based purely on instinct, he was purposefully manipulating her.  It wasnt hard when her lips felt so good.  He easily decided to probe deeper.  He opened his mouth slightly, and her lips followed suit.  He gently pushed his tongue into her mouth again, she responded in kind.

When Christoph touched her tongue with his, she thought that her head was going to explode.  The chemistry between them was amazing, and she wanted more.  She wanted to feel him pressed against her.  She unknowingly moved closer so that her body was touching his.  At the same time, she encouraged him to pick up the pace of the kiss.  He responded, and kissed her back with an urgency that she couldnt help but reciprocate.  She was intoxicated by him, and she pushed a little closer as she put her hands on his shoulders.

Heather Harlow has wanted to be an author since adolescence.  The Argon Factor is her first book in a series about aliens from the planet Argon.
She’s always been a fan of superheroes:  Batman and Robin, Spiderman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Six Million Dollar Man, and the Bionic Woman.
She likes sci-fi movies and series, like Star Trek and Battle Star Galactica. More recently, she’s been enjoying the Avenger movies. In addition to her sci-fi interests, she’s a romantic.   Therefore, it was natural for her to write about science fiction and combine it with a human interest story that has sex and romance in it.
Heather graduated from University of Memphis (BBA) and Tennessee Technological University (MBA).  Her day job is in IT at a major telecommunications company.  She currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia with her dogs, Mickey (13), a Golden Retriever, Jack (5mos), a black Lab/shepherd mix, and two cats, Smokey and Cali.
She loves wine, good music, great food, the beach, swimming, exercising, football (college and NFL), World Cup Soccer, and NHL Playoffs.
